BASF Report 2025

New Verbund site for the Chinese market

BASF has been doing business in Asia Pacific for a long time. It all started in 1885 with the trade of textile dyes. Today, BASF serves almost all key industries across the region. With our new Verbund site in Zhanjiang in southern China, we are further expanding BASF’s excellent position in the world’s largest chemical market. Zhanjiang is BASF’s third-largest Verbund site, after Ludwigshafen, Germany and Antwerp, Belgium. With more than 2,000 employees and a broad product range from basic chemicals to specialty chemicals, the site will mainly serve customers in the Chinese market. Zhanjiang is a model for sustainable production both in China and globally. For example, it will be supplied with electricity from 100 percent renewable sources.
